Wednesday 4 September 2013 – Hervey Bay
We both had a pretty early start to the day
today, as Grant left to go fishing at 6.30 this morning, and I must have heard
the car starting up, so put the light on and read for twenty minutes or so and
was still up before 7. So I had a very
leisurely breakfast, shower and read until he got back at about 9 – fishless! Not surprising really as it was very windy
and there were a couple of pretty heavy showers of rain during that time. Not that rain would be a worry to the fish I
suppose because they are wet anyway!
The morning was very overcast, with more
showers on and off, so we both spent the morning reading, and unidentical triplets
joined my sock doll family by the end of today.
One of
today’s sock dolls.
After lunch there were some periods when the
clouds were less dense than earlier, so we eventually went for a walk on the
beach for about an hour and twenty minutes.
The beach today was relatively empty – we only saw about half a dozen
people walking during that time, so the weather was putting most people
off. Once back at camp it was back to
the books (Grant and me) and the doll making (my domain), cups of tea and that was
about it. There was no sitting outside for
me today, and Grant was only outside for a short while.
Just as we were about to sit down for tea,
Ray rang to see if we were bored and wanted to go round to their park and play
cards after tea. So we headed there just
before 7pm and have only been home about 20 minutes. It is now 20 to midnight. We played the card game that Marie brought
over from Germany when she came to Amanda and Mark’s earlier this year – it is
called something 10. I still can’t
remember the name of the game, but it was good fun.
I don’t think there has been a shower of
rain since tea time, so hopefully it will be fine enough for our drive to
Bundaberg tomorrow.
